The institutional Research Office under the University Advancement exists mainly to provide a central repository of information and analysis support center for planning, management, and assessment activities of the university and its community.
Mission, Vision and ObjectivesThe vision of the office of Institutional research is to be a one-stop information and data center for the University community: to ensure that the university community has access to useful and reliable information required to facilitate the attainment of its mission.
The mission of the institutional research is to collect, organize, analyze and interpret institutional data to support university decision making, strategic planning and policy formulation.
The objective of the Office of Institutional Research is to promote the use of evidence based research for decision-making towards achieving the mission of the University through accurate, timely, tailored research/surveys to suit the diverse audiences.
Optimal Operation of an Institutional Research OfficeInstitutional DataThe institutional data comprises of;
Conduct assessment studies, retention studies, tracer studies, program effectiveness studies, etc.
Support academic unit assessment through instrument development, analysis, and interpretation
Serve as liaison between the university and CUE data submission
Report institutional data pertaining to student enrollment and characteristics, faculty and staff, academic programs, and physical space
Prepare and communicate institutional studies in such areas as academic assessment, student enrollment, retention and graduation, faculty salary and staffing, and comparative studies
Serve as research consultants and assist in interpretation and analysis of University statistical information by participating in internal and external committees and to guide appropriate use
Provide support for continuous improvement assessment activities
Maintain historical data for trend analysis
The Office of Institutional Research strives to support a "culture of evidence" at the College, where the processes of evaluation, planning and change are supported by valid and reliable information.

Admission & Enrollment DataMaintaining a profile of admitted students, and a detailed listing of student majors and course enrollments by department or program, gender, nationality,
- Analyzing data and creating reports on applications, applicants and enrolled students
- Managing regular data gatherings and providing regular reports for the management and units
- Providing data for university ranking surveys
- Managing CEU's online course evaluation system, CoursEval, and creating related reports
- Creating, managing and analyzing surveys for different units
- maintains a data warehouse containing longitudinal information on students, academic programs and personnel
- prepares descriptive and analytical reports for use by campus policy-makers and policy-making bodies (e.g., the annual Institutional Profile), and maintains web sites to disseminate these materials
- represents the College at national, regional and CUNY assessment and institutional research events and forums
IR office also serves other external parties through submission of data.
