The diploma program is aimed at those seeking a specialized qualification in Industrial Relations. It focuses on theory, law and the practical application of the primary knowledge and skills is required for those who work in industrial relations, human resources management and related areas.
The program’s primary objective is to enable managers/professionals to make a more effective contribution to their organization, by increasing their understanding and skills in effective industrial relations management. Students are expected to determine the industrial issues prevalent in an organization and recommend appropriate intervention measures, provide transformational leadership and change management skills in an organization, formulate, implement and evaluate policies and laws that touch on industrial relations and undertake relevant managerial research projects in the context of industrial relations.

- The Industrial Relations Practicum takes two (2) months and involves students attending practical sessions at the Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) and the Employment and Labour Relations court. At FKE, students witness resolution of issues and employer negotiations with trade unions through such instruments as a Collective Bargaining Agreements, while at the Employment and Labour Relations Court, students attend court sessions and prepare case studies.

Preamble
The Swahili language is one of the principal media of inter-ethnic and international communication in Eastern Africa. It is a major language that is used in business, scholarship, information and governmental bodies, among other spheres. Currently Swahili has over 100 millions of speakers (on different levels), which turns it into the largest language in sub-Saharan Africa. It is also the working language of the African Union. It is with this view in mind that United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa) invites eligible individuals to participate in an Intensive Certificate Course in Swahili language.
Rationale
Many people lack basic skills in the Swahili language in spite of its important role as a medium of communication in Eastern Africa. These include those to whom Swahili is a foreign language, and they start its learning from a zero level, as well as those who have learned it previously, but have not attained adequate proficiency. The rationale for this course is thus to enhance the knowledge of the Swahili language for various categories of learners, in order to improve their skills in the language English for various purposes. In view of the above, the course targets the broadest learning audience.
Course Philosophy
In line with the mission of the Department of Languages and Literature, which is to contribute to the communication skills and proper language use, the mission of this course is to provide knowledge and skills in the Swahili language proficiency. The knowledge and skills in the language can be applied in various walks of life – from professional environment to everyday life situations.

- Read and comprehend basic Swahili language;
- Develop adequate vocabulary and grammar of Swahili;

Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) is important for assessing the performance of development programs, yet there are very few individuals trained in M&E. In an effort to address this need, United States International University- Africa (USIU-Africa) invites eligible individuals to participate in a short course in Monitoring and Evaluation.
The training will be conducted at the Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced phases. The course will equip participants with knowledge and skills to develop practical, efficient M&E systems and tools, and to bridge the gap between theory and practice that inform planning and policy making.

The United States International University Africa (USIU-Africa) School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences in conjunction with the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK) is pleased to introduce a short course in Vaccines Management and Immunization course. The course is designed to meet the emerging health system needs of a dynamic multiskilled health workforce.
Learning Outcomes
Learners will understand:
- The rationale and history of vaccines, various vaccine technologies, mechanisms of action and epidemiology of vaccination, covering over 20 vaccines and immunoglobulins.
- Fundamentals of disease and immunology as it relates to vaccines.
- Vaccines Logistics: Pedigree tracking, Transportation (Cold Chain), Storage, documentation, emergency management and record keeping.
- Public health and impact on UHC goal.
- Kenyan Vaccine Laws, regulation, guidelines, WHO/CDC/ACDC.
- Vaccine administration, emergency management, Patient screening, Post Vaccine assessment for adverse events, and how to monitor and report any adverse reactions.
