Purpose:

The USIU-Africa Innovation Day and Hackathon is an annual event organized by the School of Science and Technology.This year the school is partnering with Blipearth tech firm based in the US amongst other partners. The main purpose of the innovation day and hackathon on-campus program is to empower students from different universities within the region with knowledge and skills on what they need to excel in the technology industry and the local competition gives the university winning teams the chance. Over the years, we have seen technology change rapidly. In the innovation and hackathon day plan to invite technology industry players and venture capitalist to talk to ICT students about how to build their careers in technology.

Objectives:

1. Enable students to understand what the technology industry has to offer them.
2. Guide students on how to hack technical solutions and creativity of innovations.
3. Enable the students get industry fit in a competitive environment.
4. Student to learn more on emerging technological trends in different sections.
5. Enable students to connect with key tech experts and innovation judges.

Networking Gala
The networking gala will be an event that takes place right after the On-campus competitions which will involve the students and participants from different universities getting the chance to interact with each other, special guests and judges. It will also involve awarding the top teams from the universities, getting career advice and support, strengthening connections for opportunities.
