Profile:
Dr. Moses Onyango is an Assistant Professor of Political Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of International Relations, Chair, International Relations (IR) Department and Programme Leader, MA in International Relations. He is also the Director, Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IPPIA).
Dr. Onyango holds a BA degree in International Relations (USIU-San Diego, USA), MA degree in International Studies (Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa), MSc degree in Leadership, Security and Society (King’s College, London, UK) and a PhD in Political Studies (University of Johannesburg, South Africa).
He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice (York St. John University, York, UK). Moses is a member of the Higher Education Academy, UK. He is a Political Scientist with expertise in teaching and research in violence, gender, youth, environment, integration and cooperation within the East and Horn of Africa, Great Lakes Region and Southern Africa. He has strong leadership skills in International Relations, security and society.
He has over 16 years of teaching, administrative and research experience at university level. His current areas of research interest include application of political and International Relations theories; understanding the state of violent extremism strategies and programmatic responses at regional and national level; the role and impact of international organization theory; regional cooperation, and integration within the context of Africa and selected areas in the Horn of Africa, East Africa, and Kenya.
