Biography:

I am a PhD graduate in entrepreneurship education and human resource development at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, USA, in the Department of Human Resource Education. As a university professor, I teach Management and Business courses to both undergraduate and graduate students. I supervise our graduate students’ research projects. Other than teaching with cases, I have written and published several teaching cases. I have experience in Research, Curriculum Development, Teaching, Business and student counseling, Career Development, Program Evaluation, Environmental Management and Gender. I serve as an external examiner to several universities in the East African Region as well as North West University, Mafikeng Campus, South Africa.

I have served as a Coordinator of several programs in the Chandaria School of Business and as the Associate Dean and acting dean. My duties included ensuring educational effectiveness through program Assessment and Review, New Program Development, attending to faculty, visitors and parents, working on Partnerships and collaborations. In addition, I have served as a Research and a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Human Resource Education at the University of Illinois, Urban-Champaign, USA. I have been able with colleagues to engage in grant funded research. My research interests are in the broader areas of management (organizational behavior and organizational development) and entrepreneurship (social and commercial entrepreneurship (women and youth). A recent interest development is in the area of Growing Inclusive Markets, IDRC research on gender (women), Educational Effectiveness/Quality assurance and Environmental Impact Assessment.

I have also been in charge of Faculty Development and serves on the university’s Educational Effectiveness Committee. She is a founding member of the Association of Faculty Enrichment in Learning and Teaching (AFELT). As a professional, Prof. Sikalieh has published in several refereed journals and has supervised both masters and doctoral student research projects and theses, respectively. She has immense experience in Research with over 30 publications; Curriculum Development; Transformative Teaching and Learning; Faculty and Student mentoring and counseling, Career Development and Program Evaluation.

She has been involved in various projects with international partners such as Goldman Sachs, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Strategic Partnerships for Higher Education, Innovations and Reform (SPHEIR), the International Development and Research Centre (IDRC) and the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) in which she has served as a monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Lead, Gender Expert, facilitator and research. Her research interests are in the broader areas of management and entrepreneurship, specifically, social and business entrepreneurship, women and youth, empowerment.

Regarding consultancy work, I have been involved in training and research consultancies with several organizations. I have attended as many conferences, presented and published papers. I was a panel speaker at the European Forum for Management Education (EFMD) 2012 and at the 2013 Association of African Business Schools Conference. I am a member of the African Management Initiative
