USIU-Africa held its first ever the charity fun run on July 4, 2015 to raise funds to increase the amount of financial assistance available to students. Almost five hundred students, staff, faculty, alumni, parents and friends of the university, turned up to support the cause, running or walking in the 4.5 kilometer or 11 kilometer tracks, raising over half a million Kenya shillings.

USIU-Africa will be hosting a Public Lecture on “Internet Standards Development and the Internet Engineering Task Force” by Mr. Olaf Kolkman, Chief Technical Officer - Internet Society, on Thursday, July 9 at 9.30am.

From July 20-31, the United States International University –Africa is hosting the 2015 America Political Science Association Africa Workshop at our campus in Kasarani, Nairobi. The two-week workshop will be led by USIU-Africa’s Associate Professor of International Relations Dr. Kennedy Mkutu ,  Prof. John Clark (Florida International University), Prof. Pamela Mbabazi (Deputy Vice Chancellor, Mbarara University of Science & Technology) and Beth Elise Whitaker (University of North Carolina at Charlotte). 

KAPU & PURCK members at Strathmore University

On May 21-22, 2015, the first two-day Kenya Association of Private Universities (KAPU) conference organized jointly with the Private Universities Research Consortium of Kenya (PURCK) was held at Strathmore University.

USIU-Africa Vice Chancellor Prof. Freida Brown presented on ‘Building the Next Generation of Academics in Africa’, attracting considerable interest from participants.

Nairobi, 12th March 2014…

USIU-Africa officially opened its Science Center today with His Excellency the Deputy President William S. Ruto as the chief guest. The 7,500 square feet building whose construction commenced in September 2013 and has cost the institution over KShs. 600 Million will house 11 modern classrooms fitted with high speed Wi-Fi and internet, 3 lecture theaters and 46 faculty and administrative offices.

USIU-Africa has opened an Event Related Potential (ERP) Laboratory in an effort to enhance its Psychology programs by making them more practical through research. This makes the Laboratory the second of its kind in Kenya after one owned by the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) in Kilifi.

USIU-Africa has for the past 24 years celebrated the Black History Month with a series of forums and events scheduled on different days of the month of February. This year, the institution marked the celebrations with an official launch ceremony on 3rd February under the theme; The impact of independence in Kenya: The changing lifestyle of the Kenyan people.

USIU-Africa broke ground today for the new student center designed to cater to a student population of approximately 8,000 students. The 77,120 square feet building is estimated to cost the institution KShs. 735 Million and will be ready for occupancy in 18 months.

PRSK Recognizes USIU-Africa Student as Young Communicator of the Year

Samuel Waitathu Kariuki, a senior majoring in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations at USIU-Africa’s School of Science and Technology, was recognized as the Young Communicator of the Year at the 2014 Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK) Awards for Excellence. The gala event was held at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi on December 5, 2014.

Science Building Handed Over
The USIU-Africa Science Building Keys were handed over to the Chairman of the board, Dr. Manu Chandaria by the building contractor at a private event held on site on 13th November 2014.

Also present at the event were members of the board, representatives of the management council, Faculty and Staff from the School of Science and Technology as well as members of the Student Association Council.
