The Quality Assurance office together with the Educational Effectiveness (EE) Committee plan faculty training and development workshops to respond to the needs identified through course evaluation and evaluation of assessment and review reports, or identified by the faculty in their faculty development plans. These workshops are scheduled either as need arises or at the end of each academic year during the Annual Symposium.
In addition, the Quality Assurance office runs three mandatory ‘New Faculty’ orientation workshops for all new faculty, both full time and adjunct. These workshops are aimed at ensuring that new faculty get acquainted with the USIU-Africa EE processes namely: formulation and alignment of learning outcomes, assessment beyond the grade, and effective classroom approaches.
The QA office provides technical and advisory support to the Student Affairs staff involved in co-curricular program assessment. The Student Affairs division has developed Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) that provide the basis for measuring the effectiveness of the co-curricular activities.
