Department of Industrial and Analytical Pharmacy Chair's Message

Dr. Were L.L. Munyendo (Ph.D.)

Trends in Pharmacy practice and training are revealing new horizons for the pharmacist as a healthcare professional. Innovations in technology such as digitization of healthcare are changing the roles of healthcare service providers. This has been characterized by a shift from product-based to patient-based pharmacy practice. Unique skills, knowledge, attitudes and cultural competencies need to be developed by clinical pharmacists, industrial pharmacist community pharmacists and even pharmacy educators across the globe by embracing news roles. This all is coupled by opportunities and challenges.
The Department of Industrial & Analytical Pharmacy leverages dedicated faculty and staff to maintain a momentum of change to assure first lane training that yields professional pharmacists intellectually empowered for healthcare delivery to clients, patients and communities premised on evidence-based and innovative strategies.
