USIU-Africa Begins Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System Implementation To Streamline Operations

By Yvonne Kageha

The fourth strategy under the fourth goal in the USIU-Africa’s Strategic Plan is to expand the usage of ICT to enhance efficiency and timely delivery of service. In line with this, the university is undertaking a strategic initiative to implement a comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system aimed at modernizing its core business functions.

This milestone project is set to enhance how the institution delivers services to its various stakeholders by streamlining operations across critical functionalities, including Student Information Management, Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, and Payroll.

The ERP system is more than just a technology upgrade; it’s an empowering tool that will enable every user to work smarter, change how we get things done every day, and create better experiences for all of us. It will consolidate fragmented systems, reduce manual processes, eliminate redundancies, enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy, increase compliance with regulatory standards, and deliver faster, more reliable services to the university community.

As an institution whose vision is to be a premier institution of academic excellence with a global perspective, this system will serve as a digital foundation that will position USIU-Africa as a future-ready institution that prioritizes efficiency, agility, and service excellence. It is a crucial step towards building an innovative and scalable university equipped to support its academic and administrative growth.

With the first phase already in full swing, the implementation will be carried out in phases over approximately 12 to 18 months as follows: Finance Management, Student Information Management, and Human Resources Management. This phased rollout allows for careful planning, active stakeholder engagement, and smoother integration across departments.

To ensure a smooth transition and long-term success, clear communication on changes, comprehensive staff training, and post-implementation support will be provided. These elements will ensure the system is fully embraced by all members of the university community and that benefits are fully realized.

By investing in this platform, the university demonstrates its commitment to innovation, growth, and continuous improvement.
