On July 11, Business and Data Science students paid a visit to Odoo Kenya offices that also double up as the Africa headquarters for the global software company renowned for its all-in-one business solutions. The visit, organized by the Placement & Career Services (PACS) Department, was part of Odoo’s Education Program, which offers students access to real-world digital tools and industry exposure.
During the visit, students participated in an interactive e-commerce workshop where they learned how to build and manage their online stores using Odoo’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. As part of the program, each student received 48 months of free access to the Odoo platform, enabling them to continue exploring its powerful business applications long after the visit.
Students also gained valuable insights into how modern businesses are using integrated software to streamline operations, boost efficiency, and stay competitive. They also engaged with Odoo professionals, many of whom are alumni, who shared their career journeys and tips for thriving in the digital economy. The experience offered a dynamic blend of learning, networking, and real-world application. It reinforced the importance of digital fluency in today’s job market and demonstrated how platforms like Odoo are transforming the way companies operate.
This visit is one of many initiatives by the PACS Department aimed at preparing students for the evolving world of work by bridging the gap between academic theory and industry practice. The university remains committed to ensuring mastery of a field of knowledge and its multi-cultural and multinational application through both formal study and various experiential forms of learning such as internships and field experiences.
Students are encouraged to stay tuned to their CareerLink portal for upcoming visits andjob shadowing opportunities to various organizations.
