David Kandia Masai, Head of Strategy and Planning, Unclaimed Financial Assets Authority (UFAA) is a strategic leader with over 15 years of experience in policy, strategy, research, business, and products development. His experience is drawn from several sectors including development finance, microfinance, capital raising, logistics, fast moving consumer goods (manufacturing) and unclaimed financial assets.

He is a proud alumnus and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in International Business Administration, Class of 2008. Holding a Master of Business Administration degree in Strategic Management from Moi University, in addition to other academic and professional certification, Masai leverages his knowledge and skills to drive impact at UFAA. He oversees and manages the Authority’s strategic planning, corporate performance through performance contracting, external funding/resource mobilization, technical research, monitoring, evaluation & learning (MEL), quality assurance (ISO 9001:2015 QMS), and business continuity planning.

Additionally, before joining UFAA, Masai has held senior roles in both banking and enterprise development, contributing to strategic transformations within those organizations.

Living up to one of the university’s core values of life-long learning which advocates for development of a learning culture that continues throughout a person’s lifetime, Masai has built a strong academic and professional foundation complimenting it with leadership and management training from both local and international institutions. These trainings include Leadership, Community Development and Civil Rights by Study U.S Institutes (SUSI) Leaders, University of Arkansas as well as Strategic Leadership Development Programme (SLDP), Senior Management Course (SMC) and Performance Management Systems Course (PMS) by Kenya School of Government.

Furthermore, he is actively involved in professional circles, holding memberships in several management and administrative associations in Kenya including Kenya Association for Public Administration and Management (KAPAM), Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), and Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).
