Placement And Career Services Department Hosts SEO Africa Info Session And Employability Workshop

On July 1, the Placement & Career Services Department hosted Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) Africa info session and employability workshop bringing together over a 100 students. Held on campus, this event provided a platform for the students to gain first-hand knowledge on preparation for a global career in the current competitive job market.
The session, facilitated by Mr. Ebenezer Adu Asare, a Talent Acquisition Analyst at SEO Africa, allowed students to explore SEO Africa’s mission of empowering young Africans by bridging the opportunity gap and equipping high-potential students with education, resources, skills, and networks needed to compete in the global workforce. Students also learnt about the organization’s development programs such as the Global Pathways Programme and the British International Investment (BII) Graduate Analyst Programme.
A key topic of discussion was employability skills which addressed issues to do with resume writing, interview preparation, and strategies for standing out in application processes. Lessons learnt include importance of crafting a unique career story, planning ahead for international opportunities, and honing core soft skills like problem-solving, communication and attention to detail in the current job market. Additionally, students, received tips on how to tailor their applications and present themselves confidently to global employers.

This event was informative and inspiring reminding students that with the right tools and mindset, global opportunities are well within reach. The session not only highlighted SEO Africa’s commitment to empowering the next generation of African leaders but also proved university’s dedication to producing problem solvers who are ready to compete and lead on a global stage.
