SADS made waves at the Ubuntu Opens tournament held on February 15-16. In a fiercely competitive environment featuring some of the country’s top universities, SADS not only held their ground but emerged as a formidable force, showcasing exceptional talent in both debating and judging categories. The tournament brought together some of the brightest minds in the country with a strong contingent of speakers and judges, and the club demonstrated its commitment to excellence in the art of debate. The results were nothing short of spectacular, with nearly every participant scooping an award.

The crowning achievement of the tournament was undoubtedly Francis Chege, who earned the title of 'Best Speaker' overall. His eloquence and persuasive arguments captivated both judges and audiences alike, earning him well-deserved recognition. In addition to this prestigious accolade, Chege also secured the runner-up position in the open speaker category. Not to be outdone, fellow SADS members Joy Muturi and Maria Marenga also emerged victorious in their performances. Joy was awarded the fourth Best Speaker, while Maria followed closely behind as the sixth Best Speaker. Their achievements reflect not only their individual talents but also the collective strength of SADS as a whole.

SADS's success extended beyond debating; the members also excelled in judging roles. Natalie Bertha and Angel Mala distinguished themselves by earning awards for third and fourth 'Best Adjudicator,' respectively. Their keen insights and fair evaluations contributed significantly to the tournament’s integrity, showcasing SADS's commitment to fostering a comprehensive understanding of debate.

This impressive performance at the Ubuntu Opens is a testament to SADS's unwavering dedication to the art of debate. The society prides itself on nurturing talent, encouraging collaboration, and fostering a competitive spirit among its members. These achievements are not endpoints but stepping stones toward greater aspirations.

Looking ahead, SADS is excited about future competitions and opportunities for growth. The enthusiasm and determination displayed by all participants inspires them to continue honing their skills and pushing boundaries. The club remains committed to excellence in debate, confident that hard work will yield even greater successes in the future.
