The Alumni Relations Department hosts University of Rwanda for a benchmarking visit

By Alumni Relations Department

The University Advancement and Partnerships Division, through the Alumni Relations Office, had the pleasure of hosting the University of Rwanda Alumni Relations team for a benchmarking visit from February 10-14. This strategic engagement aimed at enhancing alumni relations in both universities by sharing best practices and fostering collaboration between the two institutions.

The delegation from the University of Rwanda engaged in insightful discussions and collaborative sessions with key teams, including teams from University Advancement, Alumni Relations, and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. These interactions provided a platform for sharing strategies and experiences in alumni engagement, communication, and sustainability.

As part of the benchmarking exercise, the delegation together with the Alumni Relations Department visited leading institutions in Kenya to gain a broader perspective on effective alumni relations strategies. On February 13, they visited Daystar University, followed by engagements at the University of Nairobi and Strathmore University on February 14. These visits offered an opportunity to observe and learn from established alumni engagement models in different academic environments.

Throughout the visit, discussions centered on best practices in maintaining strong alumni networks, effective communication strategies, and long-term sustainability measures. The exchange of ideas and experiences contributed significantly to shaping future initiatives that will enhance alumni relations at both USIU-Africa and the University of Rwanda.

This benchmarking visit served as a valuable knowledge-sharing initiative, reinforcing the commitment of USIU-Africa and the University of Rwanda to fostering robust alumni engagement frameworks. The collaboration established during this visit lays the groundwork for continuous improvement and mutual support in alumni relations, ensuring lasting connections with graduates and greater institutional growth.
