Asunta Adut crowned as Miss Environment at the USIU-Africa's Mr. and Miss pageant

Asunta Adut, a Mastercard Foundation Scholar and a second year International Relation student at USIU-Africa, was crowned Miss Environment during the Mr. and Miss USIU-Africa pageant held on November 15. The glamorous event, held at the Boardwalk Mall Ballroom, brought together students and faculty to celebrate talent, creativity, and innovation.
Driven by her enthusiasm for environmental sustainability, Asunta dedicated her platform to raise awareness about climate change and advocate for the protection of natural ecosystems. “This platform is a great opportunity to inspire others to take meaningful action for our planet. Environmental conservation is not just an individual responsibility; it is a collective effort to create a sustainable future for all,” she revealed.
Asunta’s rise to the crown was marked by her creativity and relentless commitment to environmental causes. Her winning attire, an eco-friendly outfit made of biodegradable materials, symbolized her advocacy and devotion to sustainable practices. “My design was a message to the world, that small actions like reusing materials can make a huge difference in combating environmental degradation,” she added, reflecting on her inspiration.
Beyond the pageant, Asunta is actively involved in community initiatives that promote sustainability. She leads tree-planting campaigns in her hometown and engages in youth programs that address waste management and climate change. “I believe the youth have the power to drive change. It’s time for us to take the lead and show that we care about the future of our planet,” she emphasized.
As Miss Environment, Asunta aspires to use her title to champion sustainability projects both on campus and within the wider community. Her goals include; organizing environmental workshops, promoting green energy alternatives, and collaborating with like-minded organizations to make a real difference. “Winning this title is just the beginning. My goal is to make environmental conservation a way of life for everyone I interact with,” she declared.
Asunta’s passion and vision serve as a powerful reminder of the role young people play in making world a better place. Her leadership and action continue to inspire those around her, making her an outstanding brand ambassador for both USIU-Africa and the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.
