On October 29 and 30, 2024, the Corporate Career Academy hosted the East African Employability Summit and the 3rd Uongozi Career Awards at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya. Leading organisations, experts, and students committed to promoting employability and career development throughout East Africa came together for the 2-day event.
Office of Career Services of the Year, Most Preferred Higher Learning Institution of the Year, Dean of the Year, and Alumni Association of the Year were among the prestigious honours for which USIU-Africa received nominations. During the Award ceremony, the university received certificates for Office of Career Services of the Year (Placement and Career Services), Dean of the Year (Mr. Ronald Kimani), and Alumni Association of the Year (USIU-Alumni Association), bringing USIU-Africa into the limelight.
Since its inception in 2022, the Uongozi Career Awards have celebrated institutions, individuals, and projects driving positive change in preparing future leaders. This year’s nominations highlighted USIU-Africa’s dedication to career services, mentorship, and student wellness, areas crucial for building a robust future workforce in East Africa. Public voting, held from October 10 to 23, provided an opportunity for the community to support these initiatives, with proceeds dedicated to enhancing students' involvement in the 2nd East African Employability Summit. The event underscored the value of collaborative efforts between academia, the private and public sectors, and development organizations in shaping employability pathways and cultivating regional talent, with a special focus on mental health.
