The Alumni Relations Department convenes a CEO Roundatable at Dakawou Transport Limited
On Friday, October 11, the USIU-Africa Alumni Relations Department, headed by Mr. Michael Kisilu, facilitated a CEO roundtable visit to Dakawou Transport Limited which was in collaboration with 20 Electoral College representatives from the Chandaria School of Business (CSOB), School of Science and Technology (SST), and the School of Communication, Cinematic and Creative Arts (SCCCA) students.
The CEO Roundtable was hosted by Mr. Mohammed Ahmed Abdulle, a USIU-Africa MBA alumnus, class of 2014, who is the Managing Director at Dakawou Transport Limited. In his presentation Mr. Abdulle gave the history and growth of Dakawou Transport Limited which was founded in 1984 by his father, the late Ahmed Abdulle Noor. He shared the company’s milestones, including being the first company in East, Central, and Southern Africa entrusted with LPG transportation by major oil companies.
Dakawou Transport Limited clientele include top energy companies such as Vivo Energy, Rubis Energy, and National Oil Limited. The company has successfully expanded, with branches in Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, and Uganda. Mr. Abdulle also highlighted his personal achievements, including winning the 2019 TOP 100 Youngest CEO in Kenya award and the Top 40 under 40 Men award in 2023.
Mr. Abdulle and his team explained the company’s operations and its commitment to sustainability through initiatives such as tree planting and providing free borehole water to communities. He also highlighted the company’s Graduate Trainee Program which offers fresh graduates with six months of training with a 100% retention rate.
The students were provided with an invaluable opportunity to directly interact and pose questions to the entire Dakawou management team. The roundtable ended with a group photo and parting words of encouragement from Mr. Abdulle, who urged the students to always "fix a problem or give a solution."
