The Placement and Career Service (PACS) team recently hosted a three-day career open day, a transformative event designed to equip students with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate their professional journeys. The event, which attracted students from diverse academic backgrounds, was a resounding success, offering a wealth of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The PACS team took center stage, showcasing its comprehensive range of services. Career planning sessions provided students with a roadmap for their future, helping them identify their strengths, interests, and career goals. Career advising sessions offered personalized guidance, addressing individual concerns and aspirations.
To enhance professional preparedness, the office conducted CV and cover letter review sessions, which provided students with practical tips on crafting compelling documents that would impress potential employers.
A key highlight of the event was school based class presentations and panel talks carried out by different employers which created interactive sessions with students. Other services involved the promotion of CareerLink, a powerful online platform designed to connect students with employers. By registering on CareerLink, students gain access to a wealth of job listings, internship opportunities, and industry insights.
To bridge the gap between academia and industry, renowned employers were invited to participate in the career open day. These organizations offered invaluable insights into industry trends, job market dynamics, and emerging career paths.
One of the participating employers, Athena, took the initiative to conduct on-site recruitment for internships and various full-time positions. This provided students with a unique opportunity to apply for real-world roles and showcase their skills.
The career open day was more than just an event; it was an experience. The interactive sessions, informative class talks, and networking opportunities fostered a sense of community among students and employers. The event served as a catalyst for personal and professional development, empowering students to take charge of their future.
As the event concluded, participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable insights and connections gained. The career open day not only showcased the commitment of the university to student success but also highlighted the importance of career services in shaping the future workforce.
