USIU-Africa held its 46th Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, October 12, 2024, marking a significant milestone with 1,180 graduates and the first cohort of 17 Mastercard Foundation Scholars.

The ceremony welcomed various distinguished guests, including the Chief Guest, CEO of the Mastercard Foundation, Ms. Reeta Roy, Chancellor Dr. Manu Chandaria, members of the University’s Board of Trustees, Council, Management Board and honored guests.

In her keynote address, Ms. Reeta Roy urged graduates to serve their community and stay true to themselves.

“Today, as you set off on your individual adventures, you go armed with an excellent education and with a strong community behind you. You are ready to take your place in a complex world that needs you.”

She reminded them to embrace small beginnings, nurture community, and stay anchored in values.

Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mwenda Ntarangwi, reflected on USIU-Africa’s adaptability during the COVID-19 pandemic, which enabled the institution to transition to online learning.

"This readiness," he noted, "is a testament to the University’s liberal arts education model, designed to equip students with skills for an unpredictable future."

He also announced several key developments, including the launch of new online programs, such as the Master of Arts in Communication Studies and Counseling Psychology, and a revamped MBA program. These programs, built on expert online pedagogy, reaffirm USIU-Africa’s commitment to providing flexible, world-class education.

Prof. Ntarangwi encouraged the graduating class to embrace change, contribute to their communities and make meaningful impact.

"You are now part of a 25,000+ strong alumni network," he told the graduates. "Represent this university with excellence and contribute to a better world."

The ceremony was not only a celebration of academic success but also a testament to USIU-Africa’s continued leadership in higher education.

In the words of the Class of 2024 Valedictorian, Faraz Farid Ladha: BSc International Business Administration, “Votre limite, c’est vous-même – Your limit is yourself!" Congratulations, Class of 2024!
