Mazingira Day tree planting by Rotaract Club of USIU-Africa
On October 10, 2024, the Rotaract Club of Nairobi Central proudly hosted the transformative Mazingira Day tree planting event at Nairobi School, with the Rotaract Clubs of USIU-Africa, Milimani, and ENSO joining as key collaborators. This inspiring initiative, dedicated to environmental conservation, saw over 200 Rotaractors and volunteers come together to plant more than 700 seedlings on the school’s grounds. The event highlighted the power of collaboration, showing how diverse groups can unite to make a significant impact on the environment and move towards a sustainable future.
The event's success was largely thanks to the support of crucial partners. Greenworld Tree Nursery played an essential role by providing the seedlings, which will grow into the future forests we aim to cultivate. Their contribution was the backbone of the day, ensuring the volunteers had the resources they needed to turn the vision of a greener planet into reality. Momentum Credit also stepped up, offering steadfast support that provided us with the necessary infrastructure and tools to drive this mission forward.
We were especially honored by the involvement of the M-Pesa Foundation Academy Alumni, whose members, under the leadership of Joyce Karimi, brought an inspiring level of dedication to the cause. Their participation reflected the power of youth-driven activism and the importance of collective action across generations to tackle the climate crisis.
The collaboration between the Rotaract Clubs of Nairobi Central, USIU-Africa, Milimani, and ENSO was the heartbeat of this event. Together, we planted seedlings at Nairobi School that will grow into symbols of hope, environmental stewardship, and commitment to a greener, more sustainable future for generations to come. Through this collective effort, we took a significant step toward securing a healthier planet.
