The Center for Executive Education partners with Outspan Medical College to implement a mentorship program

The Center for Executive Education at USIU Africa held a successful Research Mentorship Program in collaboration with Outspan Hospital and Outspan Medical College, Nyeri from 16 May to 1 August. The program was tailored to equip participants with the essential skills to excel in applied research. The objectives of the program were to enhance capacity for applied research, develop research proposals for funding, equip participants with the skills to develop comprehensive and fundable research proposals, enhance the ability to publish and disseminate research findings, develop leadership and supervision capabilities in research and enhance a culture of research at Outspan Medical College.
The program was led by the university’s facilitators, Prof. Peter Kiriri as the course coordinator, who trained them in various sessions. Dr. Gabriel Okello, who focused on data preparation and analysis, Dr. Calvin Omollo, who shared his expertise in medical and health research, and Prof. Amos Njuguna, who provided insights on research support and culture.
The mentorship program culminated in a graduation ceremony held on August 1 at Outspan Hospital Nyeri, which was graced by Prof. Amos Njuguna, Deputy Vice Chancellor- Transformative Teaching, Learning, and Research at USIU-Africa; Dr. G.M. Kiruhi, Executive Director of Outspan Hospital; Prof. Peter Kiriri, Professor of Marketing at the Chandaria School of Business; Prof. Paul Mbugua, Director of Research at Outspan Medical College; Lydia Githinji, Principal of Outspan Medical College; and Caroline Muthoni, Office Administrator at the Center for Executive Education.
Participants received certificates of completion marking a significant step in advancing their research capabilities and equipping them with essential skills and knowledge to conduct impactful and demand-driven research. The collaboration between USIU-Africa, Outspan Hospital, and Outspan Medical College underscores a shared commitment to excellence in holistic healthcare, transformative learning and research.
