Alumni Relations Department collaborate with BSD Group to mentor students

On June 14, the Alumni Relations Department partnered with the Business Club to host a CEO roundtable visit to Brand Strategy and Design Group Ltd. at their offices in Kilimani. Eva Muraya CEO, BSD Group Ltd. (Class of 2004) hosted 18 students and provided insights into her career and personal journey in the world of marketing. The students were accompanied by their patron Professor Veronicah Kaluyu.
Eva offered insights on how students can transition smoothly into the professional world. She also discussed the positive influence both her education at USIU-Africa and her personal background have had on her career path, particularly her decision to pursue entrepreneurship. ‘When you get an opportunity to be an intern, learn as much as you can as this could be an avenue to start your entrepreneurship journey,’’ stressed Eva Muraya.
She further took the students through her journey of founding and growing BSD Group, including key lessons, challenges and strategies for successful entrepreneurship. Eva Muraya reflected on how her education and experiences at USIU-Africa played a pivotal role in her success and stressed the importance of the education. She further highlighted that participating in various clubs and associations during her time at the university helped hone several skills, which have been instrumental in her journey.
The BDS Group family from the Advertising, Project Management, Accounting, PR & Strategic Communication, Business Development, and Commercial Departments were also present to welcome the students.
Whitney Akinyi, the secretary of the Business Club expressed their gratitude to Eva Muraya for her time and wisdom and applauded the Alumni Relations Department for their support in making this visit possible. The students attested that the engagement was a remarkable experience and not only provided valuable learning but also reinforced the importance of continuous growth, personal character, as well as leveraging one's background and experiences in the journey to success.
