African Careers Network (ACN) Peer Coaches lead workshop on resume and cover letter writing

By Silas Otieno

On Friday, June 14, Mastercard Foundation Scholars had an enriching session led by African Careers Network Peer Coaches and Mastercard Foundation Scholars, Silas Otieno, Maureen Agwona, and Pride Nyando, along with Dolly Mwiti, Career Services Coordinator at the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa.

With over 20 attendees, the workshop aimed to empower participants with essential skills for enhancing their professional documents. Throughout the session, attendees explored key objectives, including understanding the distinct purposes of CVs, resumes, and cover letters. They also focused on developing compelling content, mastering the art of reviewing, and learning how to effectively tailor these documents to specific opportunities.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive as attendees expressed their satisfaction and confidence in articulating acquired skills. With a comprehensive understanding of CV, resume, and cover letter tailoring that resonates with potential employers, attendees are well-equipped to navigate the competitive job market.

We extend our appreciation to ACN for their insightful guidance and commend the Scholars for their active participation and eagerness to learn.
