On Wednesday, June 19, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa hosted officials from Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) Malawi and CAMFED Tanzania on campus. CAMFED is a pan-African movement supporting girls to go to school, thrive and become influential leaders and changemakers in their communities. CAMFED catalyzes the power of the most vulnerable girls and young women to create the future they imagine for themselves, for their communities, and for Africa. The organization is currently running programs in countries such as Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and is currently setting up in Kenya.

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at USIU-Africa has recruited female Scholars supported by CAMFED Malawi, Ghana and Zimbabwe through high school. CAMFED Malawi has especially been a great partner in supporting their girls in scholarship applications, interviews and processing travel documents and also support during their studies at USIU-Africa.

The officials were on a learning visit to understand the Transformative Leadership Training (TLT) for Scholars and how they can implement it in their programming. They also spent time with the Scholar Support office to understand areas of collaboration in supporting their alumni who are current Mastercard Foundation Scholars at USIU-Africa.
