Alumni Relations Department ignites innovation: Launch of the Student Enterprise Initiative Program

The Alumni Relations Department bolstered the launch of Student Enterprise Initiative Program (SEIP) on May 29 at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences by securing the participation of successful alumni speakers. Dr. Hassan Bashir, the Chairman and Founder of WOWZI Ltd. and a successful entrepreneur in the technology industry, ignited the entrepreneurial spirit in the room by sharing his personal journey to building a thriving business. Purity Wanjiru, Director, People, Culture, and Talent Management at ACCUREX also shared the history of her enterprise including mistakes made as an early entrepreneur and her success story. These industry veterans shared their valuable insights with the students, providing a real-world perspective on entrepreneurship.

Spearheaded by the Electoral College of the Chandaria School of Business, the Business Club and Educate Your Own Representatives, the SEIP is a ground-breaking program designed to cultivate the next generation of business leaders. It offers a platform for students to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills, connects them with the campus community as well as successful business leaders, helping them gain valuable insights for their future ventures. Additionally, the program has a social purpose aiming to support students in financial need cover their fees.

Professor John Magambo representing the USIU-Africa Incubation and the Innovation Centre, highlighted how the center can empower students to translate their ideas into action, preparing them to become the job creators and industry leaders of tomorrow.

The SEIP launch event was a resounding success with an attendance of more than 70 students. The energy in the room was palpable as students from various disciplines mingled, eager to learn and collaborate. The launch of the program marks a significant step forward in the university commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship. This initiative empowers students to translate their ideas into action, preparing them to become the job creators and industry leaders of tomorrow.
