The Rotaract club holds career garage

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Rotaract club of USIU-Africa hosted a highly successful career garage at the auditorium, focusing on the theme "AI and Technology." This event was specifically organized for high school students, aiming to inspire and inform them about the rapidly evolving fields of Artificial Intelligence and Technology.

The event was graced by special guests including Susanne Murabana, President of Rotary Nairobi, and Wairimu Njage, the Rotary District Governor nominee, whose presence underscored the significance of the event and added to its prestige.

The event commenced with opening remarks from the club patron, Mr. Kiseli, who set a positive and engaging tone for the day. Ashley Koki, the President of the club provided a brief overview of the event, officially marking its start. The careers garage featured several distinguished speakers who delivered insightful presentations on various aspects of AI and technology. Mutembei Kariuki provided an enlightening overview of AI and Technology giving attendees a foundational understanding of the subject. Joan Mbesya made a presentation on "AI Ethics and Responsible AI" and emphasized the importance of ethical considerations in the development and implementation of AI technologies.

Dr. Salome Gitoho, shared her insights from a Human Resources perspective where she discussed the implications of AI in the workforce, highlighting both opportunities and challenges. Jonathan Mbiri touched on "Emerging Trends and the Future of AI” and captivated the audience with a forward-looking view on how AI will shape various industries.

Overall, the event was a resounding success, and provided high school students with valuable knowledge and insights into these two fields. The club demonstrated excellent organizational skills and a strong commitment to youth empowerment and education in emerging technological fields.
