United States International University - Africa, through the School of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Division of Information Communication and Technology invites you to a “Cyber Security Awareness” webinar as we observe the Cybersecurity awareness month this October.

This event is geared towards creating a platform through which stakeholders can learn how to reduce their cybersecurity risks, protect themselves online, and encourage a robust Cyber resilient work culture to help prevent and minimize the impact of cyber attacks.

This webinar is being held in collaboration with our partners and is a continuation of our efforts to ensure that the campus community are appraised on topical cyber security strategies.

Webinar Speakers:

Dr. Paul Okanda (USIU-Africa)

Dr. Paul Okanda graduated with a First-Class Honors degree in Computer Science and worked at Procter & Gamble as a Systems Analyst before becoming the Manager, Applications at the company. He then left for the United Kingdom (UK) where he graduated with a PhD in Computer Science from Lancaster University’s School of Computing and Communications in 2006.

Paul joined the United States International University-Africa as an Associate Dean at the School of Science and Technology. He is currently an Associate Professor of Computing and also Director, Information and Communications Technology & Chief Information Officer at USIU-Africa.

Paul has been a Program Committee member of the African Conference on Software Engineering and Applied Computing. He is a Fellow of the Computer Society of Kenya (CSK). He has published several journals and peer-reviewed papers presented at International Conferences and is the principal author of two books.
Dr. Paula Musuva (USIU-Africa)

Dr. Paula Musuva is currently a lecturer in Forensic Information Technology at the United States International University-Africa, where she teaches specialized courses in Information Security, Audit, and Digital Forensics. She has worked as a Senior Technology Consultant at Deloitte East Africa and as a Team Leader and Network and Security Engineer at Seven Seas Technologies.

Dr. Musuva is actively driving Cyber-Security research at the Centre for Informatics Research and Innovation (CIRI), and regularly publishes research reports and briefs in partnership with Serianu. She is also a member of The HoneyNet Project in Kenya, a global organization of Information Security researchers.


Alinory Kwena (Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government)


Mr. Alinory works as an Intelligence Specialist in the interior and coordination of the National Government.

Mr. Kwena holds Master of National Security and Diplomacy, Galilee International Management Institute, and currently pursuing Law at the Kenya School of Law. He volunteers through Artemis Outsourcing Limited and First Data Research Limited to United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and the University of Nairobi on various projects such as Digital Learning in all Public Schools in Kenya (DLP), Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-Free, Mentored, and Safe (DREAMS), among others.
Ms. Angela Matlapeng (Botswana COMM CIRT)

Ms. Matlapeng is currently tenured as a CIRT Analyst in the Botswana Communications Sectorial CIRT (bw COMM CIRT) housed at BOCRA.

Ms. Matlapeng is the Vice-Chairperson of the Africa Top Level Domains Organization (AfTLD). She is also is AfTLD’s liaison to AfricaCERT’s Africa Anti-Abuse Working Group (Af-AAWG), responsible for awareness and capacity building in cybersecurity issues, including security and stability of the DNS.

She is also an ITU Women in Cyber Mentorship Envoy, an active member of the Internet Governance Liaison Committee at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers -ICANN, as well as a member of the global Accessibility Special Interest Group - a11ySIG.
Mr. Francis Mwangi (KOZI TECH)

Mr. Francis Mwangi is the Founder & CEO at KOZI TECH, an IT security consulting firm in Nairobi, Kenya.

Mr. Mwangi holds an MSc in Information Systems Security (Strathmore University, Kenya) and a BSc. in Business Information Systems (Middlesex University, UK). He is a member of the (Kenya Cyber Security and Forensics Association) and an advisory board member at CIO Africa.

Mr. Mwangi is a technology enthusiast with over 12 years of experience working as the CIO (Chief Information Officer) for various organizations across different sectors and Consulting for multiple organizations in public and private sectors in information security and data privacy. His work experience includes working for TripleOKlaw LLP and GTBank Kenya, respectively as Head of IT and Twiga Foods Ltd as Head of Information Security. Further to this, he is an adjunct lecturer in information systems security at USIU-Africa.
Mr. Anthony Muiyuru (Ernst & Young)

Mr. Anthony Muiyuru is the ISACA Kenya Chapter President. He is an Associate Director, Cybersecurity, Privacy & Trusted Technology at EY.

He is a regional leader at the forefront of Cyber security development in Africa and leads EY’s Cybersecurity, privacy, and trusted technology practice for East Africa. He helps organizations build trusted, secure, and more resilient technology infrastructures.

Mr. Muiyuru holds a Master of Science Degree in IT from Strathmore University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Technology. He is a Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Risk and Information Systems Controls (CRISC) professional. He is also an ITIL and CSX certifications holder.
