Can a student use a regular browser instead of LockDown Browser?

If the instructor sets a test to require LockDown Browser, it cannot be accessed with a standard browser (Chrome, Mozilla etc). Should you attempt to use any other browser, you are notified that the test requires LockDown Browser.
