Ms. Katherine Marie Perry

Vice Chair, University Council

Katherine M. Perry is an International Public Health Advisor and Consultant, with healthcare in Africa as her area of specialization.

She has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Howard University, a certificate in midwifery from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University.

Equipped with these, she has led a variety of healthcare interventions on the African continent; small teams of researchers interfacing with traditional healers on a National Institutes of Health program, administering a private hospital, collaborating with host country governments, local and international implementing partners, initiating educational programs, and coordinating a remarkably successful, multi-million-dollar US State Department lifesaving initiative.

Known for her inclusive leadership style and inter-cultural sensitivity, her experience has spanned urban and rural healthcare challenges in both East and West Africa.

Her engagement with healthcare ranges from offering one on one bedside empathy and care, to formulating country operating plans and overseeing their implementation at national government level. To each she brings her commitment, her skills, and her heart to the never-ending task of improving global healthcare delivery.

She currently serves as the Vice-Chair on the University Council of the United States International University - Africa (USIU-Africa) in Nairobi, Kenya.
