Sports Update February 1 and 2

Basketball

On Saturday, February 1, during the Kenya Universities Sports Association Nairobi Conference (NAKUSA) basketball matches played at Kenyatta University (KU), the ladies' team lost to KU 42 – 48 and beat Mt. Kenya University 38 – 25, while the men beat Ruiru 53 – 46 and crushed Gretsa University 75 – 8. The next day, the ladies' team beat Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) 53 – 46.

Soccer

In the NAKUSA football league matches played on February 1, the ladies' team lost to Kiriri Women’s University by two goals to zero at Kenyatta University, and the following day beat Pioneer University by two goals to zero. Their male counterparts lost to Gretsa University by two goals to one at the same venue. In another tournament, the men’s team were 3rd overall during the UCFL pre-season tournament at Kabete Polytechnic.

Swimming

In the NAKUSA swimming 4th league leg held at USIU-Africa on February 1, the USIU-Africa team were overall winners, bagging 19 Gold medals, 11 Silver medals and 16 Bronze medals, bagging a cumulative 335 points.

Rugby

The Rugby team lost to Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology 18 – 19 during their Championship league match played at USIU-Africa grounds on February 1. The next day at KU, the team lost to Mt Kenya University, Nairobi campus 14 – 15, to JKUAT 19 – 21 and later on beat St. Paul’s University 21 – 5.

Hockey

The hockey ladies' team drowned Mt Kenya University by 8 goals to zero during the Nairobi University League matches played on February 2, at KU.

Handball

In the NAKUSA Handball league match the men’s team beat Gretsa 40 – 15, while the ladies team lost to Daystar 12 – 16. All these matches were played on February 1 at KU.

Netball

Still at KU, the ladies' netball team lost to Kiriri Women’s University 16 – 30.
