a) STUDENT ACCESS

i. Educate Your Own (EYO) – A transformative student led initiative whose overall goal is achieving a zero dropout rate among continuing USIU-Africa students experiencing financial constraints by awarding 25-50% scholarship grant. Currently, EYO has raised over Kes 2.7 Million and supported 63 students since its inception in 2015

ii. Freida Brown Scholarship Fund – An endowment fund named after Prof. Freida Brown, who has served USIU-Africa for 21 years. The fund targets to raise Kes 500,000 to support and provide scholarships to Africa’s 500 most talented young men and women to study STEM disciplines at USIU-Africa by raising Kshs.500 million by 2021.

iii. Alumni Endowment Fund –With the vast pool of about 19,000 alumni, the Alumni Endowment Fund reconnects USIU-A alumni with their alma mater and provides a platform upon which they can support the University’s resource mobilization processes as outlined in its strategic plan of 2015-2020. This Fund is intended to grow and be endowed up to a certain interest margin which would then be invested in the lives of deserving students, at USIU-Africa, in perpetuity. The long term goal therefore, is to contribute towards the global education agenda (SDG 4) while impacting education in Africa and society at large.

b) STUDENT MOBILIZATION

i. Student Exchange programs – Through international immersion, USIU-Africa’s students acquire a global perspective through a multi-faceted approach to learning that ensures the students compete globally.

ii. Academic tours and Conferences - Through Educational Tours & conferences, USIU-A students get to experience interactive learning as well as enhanced exposure hence the students obtain practical learning information for better academic performance.

c) RESEARCH

Academic Research – The University takes pride in innovative research oriented programs which informs and expands the state of knowledge in fields of social science, technology, entrepreneurship as well as medical sciences. This is through collaborative partnership with other institutions and research organizations. For example, Pharmacy students will have the necessary resources to enhance and facilitate their research, contributing to the medical sector.
