USIU-Africa and Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program (CADFP) together with Harvard University, the Ford Foundation, University of Johannesburg, and the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa, partnered in organizing a Conference on the Role of the Diaspora in the Revitalization of African Higher Education, which took place at Harvard University’s Center for African Studies, in the U.S. city of Boston.

The Division of University Advancement will host staff and faculty for the first-ever marketing plan launch at 12pm on Friday, April 7 in the auditorium. The event is part of the university’s drive to include the entire USIU-Africa community in the recruitment of students in furtherance of strategic plan objectives.

USIU-Africa hosted the 4th Africa Model United Nations (AFROMUN) conference at the United Nations Offices at Nairobi from March 6-10 2017. The conference is an annual rotational exercise that simulates discussions in United Nations’ and African Union standing committees, regarding current issues, around an annual theme - which for this conference was “Becoming Agents of Change”.

Following the need, to enhance impact in information literacy classes, the USIU-Africa Library and Information Center hosted a Scholarly Communication and Publishing lecture, to equip the university community with the necessary skills necessary to write and publish journal articles.

On February 23, 2017, the Board of Trustees appointed Prof. Eileen Wilson-Oyelaran (pictured) as Trustee. The appointment is for a 3 year term with effect from March 1, 2017 and is renewable upon satisfactory performance.

In response to the Kenyan government’s declaration of the ongoing drought as a national disaster, USIU-Africa launched the #IamCompassionate campaign to raise support for 2.7 million Kenyans facing starvation.

On Saturday, March 18, Mr. Stephen Mokaya (HR Business Partner, Marketing, Sales & Regional Recruitment Manager - Nestlé East Africa), was invited to speak to the Senior Experience (SENEX 4800) Class at the Chandaria School of Business Lecture Theater II.

USIU-Africa’s Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IPPIA) has partnered with the Afrika Youth Movement (AYM) to host a Youth Empowerment Forum on the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The long-awaited launch of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) will take place 8.30am this Thursday, March 23 at a ceremony to be held in the Freida Brown Student Center’s third floor restaurant area.
