Dear USIU community,

As I start my second month at USIU, I am pleased to share with you that my “90 Days of Listening” are going exceedingly well.  I am learning a lot about what makes this university exceptional, your pride and commitment to its continued success, and your ideas on how best to overcome some of our current challenges and take advantage of the numerous opportunities as we move forward. I have also been meeting with various external constituencies including our alumni, employers, and public officials.

Good morning! Happy New Year! On behalf of USIU-Africa, it is my great pleasure to welcome all of you, parents, guardians and students to the week-long orientation program for Spring Semester 2016. I know this is a special day for the parents and guardians who have entrusted us to educate your loved ones. It is certainly a special day for the students, who chose to join this remarkable university, an intellectual community that will nurture and nourish your intellects, equip you with the knowledge, skills, and competencies for productive personal and professional lives once you have completed your studies. It is also a special day for me, as this is my first day as Vice Chancellor of this extraordinary university.

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the Spring Semester 2016 as your new Vice Chancellor. I have been received with such remarkable warmth and generosity that I am truly humbled and grateful.

Please also join me in welcoming the 803 new students, 3 faculty, and 2 staff members who have joined us this semester. We wish them success in their new institutional home and we all stand to benefit from the talents and gifts each one of them brings to the university.
