About GBSN
|
|
|
The Global Business School Network (GBSN) is an International Finance
Corporation (IFC) initiative designed to
strengthen the institutional capacity of business schools in developing
and transition countries. The Network brings together top global business
schools with business schools in developing countries. |
|
|
The idea behind the GBSN is to use the resources and knowledge of top
international institutions to make high quality management training to be
available locally, through existing business schools. The IFC believes
that by providing local, regional and multinational organizations with a
stronger pool of trained managers, business schools in developing
countries will help foster a healthy private sector and a stronger
economy. |
|
|
Seventeen
international business schools are to provide resources and faculty to
help strengthen local schools in areas such as curriculum development,
executive programmes and case teaching methods. Through the GBSN, faculty
from the European and US schools will spend time at the African
institutions, while academics from those schools may also visit the west
for mentoring programmes or training courses.

The aim of
the Case Development Project is to make management training programs more
relevant to the needs of local businesses, organizations and
entrepreneurs. This objective will be achieved through the development of
local case studies which will address actual problems faced by managers in
Kenya and the broader East African & African region. Consequently,
the
quality and training of Business Education will be improved through the
use of Case Studies because learning via cases will expose students to
real life challenges where practical decisions need to be made. This will
give students the opportunity to test their new knowledge and to
experiment with their decision-making abilities in the risk-free learning
environment. |
