In
2008, members of the Academic Advisory Group of
the Global Business School Network (GBSN) met
at USIU Business School in Nairobi, Kenya for
its third annual meeting which was held on Wednesday
9th July 2008 and Thursday 10th July 2008. The
purpose of the meeting was to bring together representatives
of the network along with other interested and
relevant parties to continue exploring best practices
in business education, discuss new ways of forming
beneficial partnerships, and foster stronger ties
among partner schools.
Representatives from business schools, private
sector, NGOs, development partners and government
ministries were invited to participate in many
of the meeting's activities including roundtable
discussions, break out sessions, member presentations,
and various social events. This rich network of
individuals and organizations actively worked
to concretely define GBSN’s goals and strategy
to more effectively meet the needs of African
business schools and encouraged unified international
support across the public and private sectors.
Several topics of interest for discussion at the
meeting were: best practices in management education;
creating a general framework for the establishment
of new business schools; designing a clear involvement
mechanism for partnerships; standardizing a set
of diagnostic tools for business school assessment;
and capturing the accomplishments of African business
schools as demonstrations of successful practices.
